The Art of Holding Space
June 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

When you’re feeling unseen and misunderstood, how does that impact you?
Personally, there have been many times when I’ve told myself that no one will understand me because there’s something deeply wrong with me, so I should just keep to myself. What a lonely feeling.
And many others are feeling this way. According to the most recent Gallup poll in 2024, 1 in 5 Americans struggle with daily loneliness.
Now think about how it feels when you share something vulnerable with someone and they don’t try to fix, minimize, take the spotlight, or shut you down–they just listen, reflect what you’re saying and validate what you’re feeling. Wow, what a sigh of relief to feel seen in your experience by another human being! You’re not alone after all. Phew!
That’s the power of holding space. You can learn how to share this gift.
In this workshop, we’ll:
- Define what it truly means to hold space, and what it doesn’t mean, so you can help someone feel truly seen instead of even more disconnected
- Learn how to hold space for your own big emotions, so you can better show up as a grounded presence for others
- Practice holding space for someone else in pairs, with presence, curiosity and empathy to help integrate what you’ve learned and illuminate what you need to work on
Through guided exercises, reflective prompts, and group discussions, you’ll learn and practice the skills to be a calm, compassionate presence in vulnerable moments for those around you. We’ll have Q&A at the end if there is time.
What to bring:
- A journal and pen
- A water bottle for yourself
Who this is for:
Anyone seeking deeper emotional connection and the ability to serve others in a meaningful way, whether in personal relationships, community settings, or professional roles. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to be present and open.
